I’ve been taking a new course with a construction comrade. We have both worked together for many years. He has worked on my stuff for clients and I have physically worked on his stuff for his fellow contractor clients.

We have decided to learn more about how money works in the worlds of development finance and real estate investment. I recommend this to any would be design, architecture, carpenter, electrician etc., etc., student or anyone long in the business. This course is showning me why and how money is allocated in a project from the point of view of the developer and the banker/financier. Design for all intents and purposes is barely a line item. I will go into more detail later but sadly and truthfully, lawyers, accountants, contractors, planners, politicians have way, WAY,  more significance than good design, sustainable design and environmental necessity. OMG!

Anyway, I have more stories to tell coming up but today is St. Patricks day and I’ve just come back from errands and need to prepare for a study session tonight with my contractor study partner.
